What is Sayo Chat?
Sayo Chat is your smart helper.
- For Teachers – it can make lesson plans, worksheets, quizzes, and more
- For Students – it can answer questions, explain lessons, and give tips on how to solve problems
You ask a question in your own words, and it replies with an explanation, a draft, or step-by-step help.
How to Open Sayo Chat
You can open Sayo Chat in three places:
- Homepage Header – click Open Sayo Chat
- Homepage Quick Action Card – click Sayo Chat
- Sidebar – click Chat
Teacher vs Student Chatbot
- Student Accounts → always use the student chatbot (no switch)
- Teacher Accounts → have a switch at the top to pick Teacher Mode or Student Mode
- No Role Yet? → you’ll see the switch until the system sets you as a teacher or student
Note: If you have a school or institutional account, the system will set your role for you.
Layout of the Sayo Chat Page
- Switch (Teacher/Student) – at the top (only for teachers or accounts without a role)
- Page Title – “Sayo Chat”
- Quick Question Cards – three ready-made example questions
- Click one → it shows up in the text box
- You can change it before sending
- Chat Box – type your question here
Buttons Under the Chat Box
- Add (+) – attach a file, link, code, or math problem; also switch Ask or Plan mode
- Tools – enable Web, Chart, Canvas, Document, PowerPoint, or DOCX outputs
- Model – pick Auto, Fast Model, Smart Model, or open More models
- Mic – speak your question instead of typing
- Send – send your question to Sayo Chat
Ask mode answers directly. Plan mode opens a planning panel to break a big task into steps before Sayo executes them.
Making Things While You Chat
Sayo Chat does more than answer — it can build things for you and open them in a panel beside your conversation:
- Apps – interactive quizzes, games, and calculators (Sayo Canvas)
- Documents – printable worksheets, notices, and quizzes
- Presentations – slide decks for a lesson
- Charts – graphs, diagrams, and comparisons
Just ask, and Sayo picks the right one. For how each one works, see the Tools in Sayo Chat guide.
To save an app and use it with a class, see the Sayo Apps guide.
Personalize Sayo
Sayo can remember details about you so its answers fit you better across all your chats. Open Personalize Sayo — the ✨ Personalize Sayo link at the bottom of the chat history drawer (the ">" panel on the left).
There are three tabs:
- General – your name and how you'd like Sayo to respond to you (teacher or student).
- Preferences – optional details that help Sayo tailor its help: your preferred reply language, learning or teaching style, subjects, and Custom Instructions for Sayo. The custom instructions box is where you tell Sayo how to behave — for example, "Always reply in simple language" or "Explain maths step by step."
- Memory – Saved notes about you. Sayo saves useful details as you chat, and you can also Add note yourself. Each note can be edited or deleted, and you can Clear all notes at any time.
Everything you set here is used quietly in the background to shape Sayo's replies, and you stay in control — edit or clear your profile and notes whenever you like.
Chat History
Your old chats are saved on the left side.
- To see them, click the “>” button beside the sidebar
- The drawer will slide open with your past chats
- Click on a chat to open it again and keep going
This way, you don’t lose your work — you can always return to old conversations.
