What is My Materials?
My Materials is your personal learning materials library — study resources students read or download.
From this page you can:
- Create new Lessons (learning materials)
- Search and organize your saved materials
- Send to Room to attach a material to a classroom
Assignments are not stored here. Create and manage those in the separate Assignments library (sidebar: Assignments).
Materials vs Assignments vs Drive:
- Materials — learning materials you share for students to read
- Assignments — tasks students submit (with due dates and grading)
- Drive — everyday teaching files (uploads, folders, shared school files)
If you’re looking for a file you uploaded for yourself, check Drive first.
How to Access My Materials
- Log in to the Teacher Portal.
- On the sidebar, click Materials.
- You’ll land on My Materials.
You can also open Assignments from the sidebar when you need the assignment library.
The My Materials Page Layout
- Toolbar — search, filters, and Create Material (for a new lesson)
- Card or list view — toggle how lessons are displayed
If your library is empty, use Create Material to add your first lesson. The empty state explains that Materials is for lessons students read.
Creating a New Lesson
- Click Create Material on the My Materials page.
- Choose how to build the lesson:
- Generate new PDF — describe what you need, then continue in Sayo Chat to refine an AI-generated PDF
- Upload existing PDF — use a PDF from your device as-is
- Complete the form fields shown, then save the lesson to your library.

To create an assignment instead, go to Assignments and follow Creating Assignments.
When you generate a lesson, document, slides, or spreadsheet in Sayo Chat and save it to Materials, you’ll usually be taken straight to where it was saved, with the new item highlighted so it’s easy to spot.
Managing Your Materials Library
Each lesson appears as a card on your library page.
From each card you can:
- Edit — update title, file, or description
- Delete — remove it from your library
- Preview — view the file before sharing
- Send to Room — pick a classroom to attach the lesson (Lessons tab)
Any lesson created here can be reused across multiple classrooms without uploading again.
For a full walkthrough of preview, edit, send, and delete (including selecting many items at once), see Managing Materials.
