Learn how to create assignments in the My Materials library, including advanced options like grading, marking schemes, and AI grading prompts.

What Are Assignments?

Assignments are tasks or activities given to students that can be graded or assessed.
They’re stored in your My Materials library, just like learning materials, and can later be attached to any classroom.

You can choose between basic assignment settings or enable the advanced section for grading and AI-assisted evaluation.

How to Create an Assignment

  1. Go to the My Materials page in your Teacher Portal.
  2. Click the Create Material card (the ➕ icon).
  3. When the creation form slides in from the right side of the screen, toggle the Material Type switch to Assignment.

Filling Out the Assignment Form

Once Assignment is selected, you’ll see these fields:

  • Assignment File Upload — Upload the file students need to complete (e.g., worksheet, project brief).
  • Title — Give your assignment a clear and descriptive name.
  • Description — Briefly describe what the assignment requires.
  • Overview (optional) — Provide additional details or instructions for students.

Using the Advanced Assignment Options

Below the main form, you’ll see a clickable text toggle labeled “Show advanced” or “Hide advanced.”
Clicking this reveals more grading and automation options.

When the advanced section is visible, you can configure:

  • Max Points — Set the maximum grade students can earn (1–100).
  • Marking / Grading Scheme File — Upload a rubric or grading guideline for consistency.
  • AI Grading Assistant Prompt — Enter or select a grading prompt that helps the AI understand how to evaluate submissions.
  • Prompt Templates — Choose a saved prompt from the dropdown and edit it if needed.

💡 The AI Grading Assistant can analyze student submissions using your prompt and rubric, helping speed up the evaluation process.

Saving or Cancelling

After filling out your assignment details:

  • Click Save to add the assignment to your My Materials library.
  • Click Cancel to discard your changes.

Your saved assignments will appear on the My Materials page, displayed in either Card View or List View, depending on your current preference.

Managing Created Assignments

From your My Materials library, you can:

  • Edit — update the assignment or modify grading options.
  • Delete — remove it from your library.
  • Preview — view the details and uploaded files.
  • Add to Classroom — assign it to students within a classroom.

⚙️ You can reuse the same assignment across multiple classrooms without re-uploading or reconfiguring it.
