Interactive Agents Overview
Interactive Agents are custom AI assistants you create for teaching, learning, or school work. They are separate from the ready-made tools on the Tools page.
You can:
- Create an agent with instructions and optional knowledge files
- Choose Purpose and which AI tools it may use in chat
- Share it as Private, Institution, or Public
- Pin it to a classroom so students can chat with it
Where to Find It
- Open Interactive Agents in the sidebar
- Or go to Interactive Agents
- Click Create interactive agent to open the builder form
Visibility
When you create or edit an agent, set Visibility:
- Private — only you
- Institution — people in your school or organization
- Public — anyone on Sayo Academy who can open it
Creating an Interactive Agent
- Open Interactive Agents (
/interactive-agents).
- Click Create interactive agent — this opens the form at
/interactive-agents/new/form.
- Fill in:
- Name, Description, and Visibility (Private, Institution, or Public)
- Purpose — Academic or Administrative
- AI tools — choose what the assistant can do in chat (see below)
- Optional educational metadata (subject, curriculum, level, language)
- Instructions — how the agent should behave
- Optional knowledge files (PDFs, images)
- Save the agent. It appears in your library and can be pinned to classrooms from the Interactive Agents tab in a room.
Purpose
On create and edit, set Purpose to:
- Academic — teaching, tutoring, curriculum, and learning support
- Administrative — school operations, policies, scheduling, and admin workflows
You can change purpose later when you edit the agent.
AI tools
Under AI tools, turn on only what this assistant should be able to do in chat. People chatting with it only get the tools you enable.
Available tools:
- Web search
- Image generation
- YouTube video analysis
- App (Sayo App)
- Charts & visualizer
- PDF documents
- Presentations
- Spreadsheets
Some capabilities work without a separate button in chat: YouTube video analysis runs when someone shares a video link, and attached reference files are read automatically.
Use in a Classroom
Teachers can pin agents from the classroom Interactive Agents tab so students can open and chat with them there.
For the student side, see Classroom Interactive Agents (Students).
Tips
- Write clear Instructions so the agent stays on topic.
- Upload only the knowledge files the agent needs.
- Test the agent yourself before you pin it for a class.
- Match Purpose to how people should find and use the agent in Creation Hub filters.
