What is a Classroom?
A Classroom is your teaching space where you manage lessons, assignments, and students for a specific subject or group.
Each classroom can include Interactive Agents, Apps, and the lessons and assignments you share with that class.
How to Access the Classroom Section
- Log in to the Teacher Portal.
- On the sidebar, click Classroom.
- You will be taken to the My Classes page — this is where all your classrooms are listed.
You can also switch tabs at the top of My Classes to view rooms where you are a Teacher, Student, or Admin.
From the sidebar you can also open:
- Materials — your lessons library (My Materials)
- Assignments — your Assignments Library for work students submit
Those libraries are separate from each other and from Drive (file storage).
How to Create a Classroom
There are two ways to create a room:
Option A: Create with details (recommended)
- On My Classes, click Create in the page header.
- Fill in the form:
- Class Name — for example: Science 6A, English Literature
- Subject — for example: Maths, English, Science
- School — Personal or your organization account
- Max Students — up to 75
- Click Save to create the classroom, or Cancel to close without saving.
Option B: Quick blank room
If you have no classrooms yet, the empty state may show an option to create a blank room instantly. You can rename and configure it later from the card menu.
After You Create a Classroom
Right after creating a classroom, you’ll often see a short Getting started panel. It walks you through the first useful steps:
- Invite students — share a join link or room code
- Create an assignment — for example start a quiz for this class
- Add lessons — upload or create resources students can open anytime
You can dismiss the panel and explore the dashboard whenever you’re ready; the same actions remain available from the classroom tabs and menus.
How to Edit a Classroom
Each classroom card includes a three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Edit name
- Click ⋮ on the classroom card.
- Choose Edit Name.
- Enter the new name and save.
Room settings
- Click ⋮ → Room Settings.
- Update Class Name, Subject, or Max Students.
- Click Save or Cancel.
Join code
- Click ⋮ → Join Code.
- Share the code or link with students so they can join at Join Class.
Pause or activate
- Click ⋮ → Pause Room to temporarily disable student access.
- Choose Activate Room to turn the room back on.
How to Delete a Classroom
- Click ⋮ on the classroom card.
- Select Delete.
- Check I understand this action cannot be undone, then confirm.
Once deleted, the classroom and its contents no longer appear on My Classes.
Preview as Student
Classroom managers (teachers and org admins who can manage the room) can open the classroom as students see it — same room, student UI.
- Open the classroom from My Classes.
- Click Preview as student in the classroom header.
- Walk through tabs the way a student would (Lessons, Homework, and so on).
- You can submit your own test work while previewing, so you can check the full flow.
- Leave anytime with the sticky pill Student view — tap to exit.
This is a presentation-only lens: it shows the student interface for that room. It does not turn you into a real student account, and it does not change what real students can do.
What to Add Next Inside a Classroom
After creating or updating a classroom:
- The classroom card appears (or updates) on My Classes.
- Click the card to open the room, then use the tabs:
| Tab | What it’s for |
|---|
| Dashboard | Room home and announcements |
| Assignments | Work students submit (they see this as Homework) |
| Lessons | Reading and study files for students |
| Interactive Agents | Chat helpers pinned to the class |
| Apps | Interactive apps pinned from Creation Hub |
| Members | People in the room |
| Analytics | Class progress views |
You can also prepare lessons in My Materials and assignments in the Assignments Library first, then send them into the room when you’re ready.
