Learn how to manage classroom assignments, add from your library, and review student submissions.

What is the Assignments Tab?

The Assignments tab is where teachers manage all classroom assignments.
From this tab, you can:

  • Create new assignments directly inside a classroom
  • Add existing assignments from your My Materials library
  • View assignment details and student submissions
  • Set or update due dates

Accessing the Assignments Tab

  1. Go to the My Classroom page.
  2. Click on a classroom card to open it.
  3. Select the Assignments tab from the top navigation bar.

Page Overview

Inside the Assignments tab, you’ll see:

  • A summary section showing assignment counts or progress
  • A + Add Assignment button to create or import tasks
  • A list of assignment cards
  • A three-dot (⋯) menu for managing each assignment

Each card also includes a View button and a View Submissions link at the bottom.

Adding an Assignment

Click the + Add Assignment button to open a menu with two options:

1. Create New Assignment

This opens the classroom’s assignment creation form.

You’ll need to fill out:

  • Assignment File Upload – attach the assignment file (PDF, document, etc.)
  • Title – name of the assignment
  • Description – short explanation for students
  • Overview – detailed task guide

You can also toggle the Advanced Section by clicking Show Advanced.
Inside, you can:

  • Set Maximum Points (1–100)
  • Upload a Marking/Grading Scheme File
  • Add an AI Grading Assistant Prompt or choose one from Prompt Templates

After completing the form:

  • Click Save to publish the assignment
  • Click Cancel to discard

💡 Just like materials, any assignment created here will also be saved to your My Materials library for reuse.

2. Add from Library

If you already have assignments in your My Materials library:

  1. Click Add from Library.
  2. You’ll be redirected to your My Materials page.
  3. Use the circle checkboxes to select one or more assignments.
  4. Click Add to Room when you’re done selecting.
  5. A Set Due Date modal will appear — choose the deadline before confirming.

After setting the due date, the assignments will appear in your classroom.

📘 You must set a due date when importing assignments from your library.

Managing Assignments Inside a Classroom

Each assignment appears as a card in the classroom.
You can interact with it in several ways:

1. View Assignment Details

Click the View button on a card to open the assignment detail modal.
This view shows:

  • The assignment file preview
  • Title, description, and overview
  • Due date
  • Other relevant metadata (like creation date or points)

2. View Student Submissions

At the bottom of each card, there’s a View Submissions link or button.
Clicking it opens the submission management view, where you can:

  • See which students have submitted
  • Track submission times
  • Review and grade work

📘 We’ll cover the Submission Management view in a dedicated guide later.

3. Edit Assignment

Click the three-dot (⋯) button → Edit Assignment
This reopens the same creation form for editing.
You can update the assignment file, title, description, or grading settings.

⚠️ Edits made here will also update the same assignment across your My Materials library and other classrooms that share it.

4. Set or Update Due Date

Click the three-dot (⋯) button → Set Due Date
A date picker will appear, allowing you to modify or assign a new due date.

5. Remove from Room

Click the three-dot (⋯) button → Remove from Room
This removes the assignment from the classroom but keeps it in your My Materials library.

Tips for Managing Assignments

  • Always set clear and realistic due dates to keep students on track.
  • Use the AI Grading Assistant to speed up the review process.
  • Organize your library so you can easily reuse assignments in future classes.
